  OrangePi Zero Plus2 & 3.5" TFT via tv out/rca
Posted by: Dzver - 03-14-2019, 03:30 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

FIXED. I guess ive missed that part where you need to add "tv" to etc/modules + adding only "Red" output to Yellow input of the monitor. Now the audio..

Hi guys,

I am pretty new regarding those boards and distros so i am really sorry for asking probably already answered questions.
Ive got totally lost last few days reading tons of info regarding TV OUT/RCA on OrangePi Zero Plus 2 here and there.

Some people say that isnt working:

"TV out is enabled by default on legacy kernel, while on the mainline kernel is not developed and there no particular interest or resources to do that."

Some fixes regarding mainline kernel sugesting removing 359 resistor, connecting directly to pin13 and pin9 (ground) etc etc..

Is ROPI using "Mainline" kernel? Since ive used built-in Bash Tool to change to Analog TV (from HDMI). Sadly i dont get any signal after switching to analog (PAL with fixed overscan, tryed also NTSC after reflashing image). Test was made only using TFT 3.5" 320x240 camera monitor with only RCA out. Not sure if that was the problem.

Also ive messed 6-7 hours via putty to change resolution via h3disp (before i know it only change resolution to only hdmi output)
and directly edited script.bin/fex via buiild-in config in armbian-config via ssh.

Changed resolution and stuff but nothing happens after every restart. Just blank black screen. Read here (http://linux-sunxi.org/Fex_Guide#.5Bdisp_init.5D) that there is difference between LCD and TV. Did my 3.5" TFT LCD RCA monitor had to be screen1_output_type 1 (LCD) instead 2 (TV) since i didnt read anywhere regarding LCD config? Also ive read that in OPI boards RED cable is actually the video signal and not YELLOW? Is that correct?

Does this TV out/RCA really works on OrangePi Zero Plus 2 with ROPI 4.2? Any directions will be helpful. Thanks in advance!

OP Zero Plus 2 H5 version?
Posted by: Mangy_Dog - 03-13-2019, 09:37 PM - Forum: RetrOrangePi v4.2 version - Replies (17)

Is there a build for the H5 version of this board?

Im about to start building a retro machine and I got this board for it...

If there is no straight up build... Is there a guide to making a custom build? Like Getting the armbian build for my board and installing retropie onto it?

Any help please? Smile

ROPI reverts to 4.1 after running 'update'
Posted by: Thorr - 03-06-2019, 01:04 AM - Forum: RetrOrangePi v4.2 version - Replies (1)

Is it normal for ROPI to report itself as 4.1 instead of 4.2 after running an update of the retropie script and updating the main cores?  EmuStation is showing as 2.80RP, but RetrOrangePi shpws as 4.1.  This image is built from 4.2 FULL.  I updated the retropie script and then updated the core packages.

  Reicast update script not working
Posted by: Gakros - 03-04-2019, 01:48 AM - Forum: RetrOrangePi v4.2 version - Replies (11)

Hello community,
I tried both Retrorangepi 4.1 and 4.2 and when i try to update the reicast emulator i get the same error.

"/home/pi/Retropie-Setup/tmp/build/reicast/shell/linux/reicast.elf not found".

I checked the github page and the script does download everything correctly except there is no such file .elf to be seen anywhere.
I am using an Orangepi 2e+ model and i noticed the script that tries to update my machine is trying to recongize it self as an "ordroid" ?

Ps1. I know that is irrelevant to the upldate script but i have a dc_flash.bin and dc_boot.bin downloaded ,md5 verifried and inside a file "/BIOS/dc" but i don't see the dreamcast's manager on emulationstasion.
Ps2. I am also having problems updating many other emulators. The scripts break at files they fail to find similar to this one.

  Mini Arcade Work In Progress
Posted by: djcasl - 02-26-2019, 02:52 PM - Forum: GENERAL TALK - Replies (5)

I used to spent more time on the forum, but I have a good reason not to.
I have started to build a MiniArcade several weeks ago and when I have some time I'm working on it to improve.

I have shared an album on Google Photo's hope you can see it:
Google Photos MiniArcade Album

The heart of this build is an Orange Pi Lite, maybe I will upgrade this in the future.
I would like to thank Alexkidd, for giving me advice and help via this forum on several topics (screen / joysticks)

I will add the final photo's to the album when the build is complete. Maybe I can add some hi-res pics as well.

This build contains a lot of AliExpress parts, so it was pretty cheap for the main build. Was lucky that I got the Dell 1501 screen for free.
I will add the part list in this thread for anyone who is curious. And a lessons learned as well.

Hope you like it.

Dirk (a.k.a. djcasl)
