Question Nano Pi M1 support
Posted by: Quinlan - 03-04-2018, 08:32 AM - Forum: DEVELOPMENT - Replies (1)

Hello,

Im very interessing by the project because i want to add a retro-gaming and Media Center all-in-one box for my family.

But I'm a new owner of a NanoPi M1 Plus. I read on your website than the support "coming soon" for my board in v4 branch. I try to download this File but i think it's missing on the host.

Do you confirm the support of this board in future ?

Thanks for reply.

HDMI dead on Orange Pi PC
Posted by: YiorgosH - 03-03-2018, 04:42 PM - Forum: SUPPORT - Replies (4)

I unburied my first orange pi, an OPi PC I had bought almost 2 years ago. I flashed a new 4.1 image and plugged it in, but I get no HDMI output (audio or video). It seems to be working ok, I let it some time in order to perform the initial install and now I can access it via ftp and ssh, but still get no image or sound. I tried it in my TVs HDMI output and on a monitor via HDMI-to-VGA adapter. Both those displays work fine with my Opi Lite.

It was working ok last time I remember, with retrorangepi v3.0.1. Is there anything I should check, before concluding it's a hardware issue?

  Shanwan Android Gamepad issue
Posted by: YiorgosH - 03-02-2018, 06:08 PM - Forum: SUPPORT - Replies (2)

I bought this joystick: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Arcade-Fighting...2845714270

It is recognized as "shanwan android gamepad", I set it up, but when inside a game, whenever I press the hotkey it performs an action as if a hotkey combination has been pressed. With the hotkey assigned to SELECT, pressing it resets the game. With the hotkey assigned to R2, pressing it pauses the game etc.

I'm currently investigating the issue. Anyone has experienced something similar? Any ideas on how to overcome it?

Question Delay in USB Controller being recognised after launching a game.
Posted by: seantattoo666 - 03-02-2018, 03:45 PM - Forum: SUPPORT - Replies (5)

Hi, I've been experiencing a strange problem, in that sometimes when I start up retrorangepi 4.1 on my orangepi pc plus.

Upon launching a game for any system, there is sometimes a delay of up to a couple of minutes before the message comes up, stating it's found the controller. Before this is displayed I have no control over the game, even though the title screen may have loaded a minute or more before the controller is enabled. Once the controller is picked up, I can play any of the games just fine.

But the strange thing is, sometimes after booting up the pi, this problem doesn't occur at all, and the controller is recognised in the relevant emulator immediately. I've tried disabling wifi, but this had no effect. Can anyone suggest anything I can do next? I have the exact same setup on a regular opi pc (not plus), and experience no problems like this, even though I'm using the same pad on that system. Which leads me to believe it's an EMMC problem? In that on the standard pi pc I'm running retrorangepi off SD card, whereas on the pc plus it's installed in EMMC?

BTW the game controller I'm using is a generic USB type, shaped like an xbox pad, never had any problems with it before.

Thanks in advance. Smile

problem to install on orangepiplus2e emmc
Posted by: co4x - 03-01-2018, 11:35 PM - Forum: SUPPORT - Replies (12)

Hello

Any help will be welcome...
I think i tried everything to install retrorange pi on orangepi plus 2e emmc with no succes.
The provided install_emmcv4.sh script don t work because the emmc device is not detected with standard 4.1 installation (mmcblk1 doesn t t appear in /dev). I can assume that is not a board failure because i ve no problem to install last armbian version with nand_to_sata...
So i tried a lot of things, from u-boot update to sunxi kernel recompilation or flashing directly from armbian, but nothing seems to work.
Has somebody succesfully done the trick ?

thanks for your help

The term arose as a way to distinguish the "box" and the electronic circuitry and components of a computer from the program you put in it to make it do things. The program came to be known as the software. Computer hardware is the collection of physical parts of a computer system. This includes the computer case, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. It also includes all the parts inside the computer case, such as the hard disk drive, motherboard, video card, and many others. Computer hardware is what you can physically touch.
Definitions
A computer system consists of two major elements: hardware and software. Computer hardware is the collection of all the parts you can physically touch. Computer software, on the other hand, is not something you can touch. Software is a set of instructions for a computer to perform specific operations. You need both hardware and software for a computer system to work.
Some hardware components are easy to recognize, such as the computer case, keyboard, and monitor. However, there are many different types of hardware components. In this lesson, you will learn how to recognize the different components and what they do.
Types of Computers
Before looking at the various components, it is useful to distinguish between two different types of computers: desktop computers and laptop computers. A desktop computer consists of a computer case and a separate monitor, keyboard, and mouse. As the name suggests, this type of computer is typically placed on a desk and is not very portable.

A laptop computer has the same components but integrated into a single, portable unit.
