  Updating Amiberry
Posted by: LabradorWoofWoof - 02-27-2020, 04:12 PM - Forum: RetrOrangePi v4.3 - go to www.retrorangepi.org/forum - Replies (10)

Hey all,

I've downloaded the latest image for my OrangePi PC and I've noticed Amiberry is around a year old. So, I thought I'd try to update it.

Went into the RetroPie menu and launched the config package
Updated the Retrorangepi setup script
Navigated to the additional packages menu / Amiberry
Selected update from Source
The update fails due to missing files:libpng-dev libmpeg2-4-dev zlib1g-dev libsdl2-image-dev libsdl-ttf-dev

So, I quit the utility, and installed said files manually (took some faffing around)
Relaunched the updater and it fails again with this error: Makefile:206: *** Unknown platform:H3-mali-sdl2.

I've tried to compile this manually by cloning the git repo and after much faffing around, installing various libs, it finally compiled. But upon launching it, I get an error stating no video device was found

What am I doing wrong?

I want to make an arcade only vertical image and cocktail image.
so I want to know how to get it to boot into vertical mode, so the menu and everything is displayed vertically?
Thanks

Copy the BIOS to /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/ make sure the name is gba_bios.bin

Done! It works! Thanks!
N64 isnt working. I guess that's to be expected tho right? I just wanted to play retro games... now you guys got me doing tech and hacking and shit. I'm different now! Seriously tho, thanks

N64 is a beast to emulate, unfortunately the RetroStone2 is overall an overpriced and weak handheld. Your phone is better suited to emulate the N64.

  OrangePi +2e doesnt ffmpeg driver
Posted by: zarkon - 02-20-2020, 05:15 PM - Forum: RetrOrangePi v4.3 - go to www.retrorangepi.org/forum - Replies (3)

Hi.

Orangepi plus 2e retrorangepi distribution doesn't include ffmpeg library.

If I look inside retroarch's driver menu ffmpeg appears but is fake.

If I select recording driver only null is how and never ffmpeg option appears again.

From console command line the command ffmpeg is not installed.

After I installed the ffmpeg the driver ffmpeg continues missing from
retroarch driver menu.

Where I can do that retroarch recognizeds ffmpeg encoder to recording gameplays?

Thanks.

Some Question and bug on OPi1
Posted by: psygnosis - 02-19-2020, 10:35 AM - Forum: RetrOrangePi v4.3 - go to www.retrorangepi.org/forum - No Replies

So, here I come to some recap of the opi1 version of 4.3

There are some strange behaviour too:
- retroarch crash on assets.zip update (on extracting)
- Kodi as issue with python 3.0.0 dependancies. (xbmc.python 3.0.0.0), so you can't install many addons.
- by default PRIME hw render is on, but you can watch just a video without go forward or backward. If you stop a video and choose another one, you have black screen.
withouth prime hw, everything works but well, the quality is meh. (for 1080p videos), i try different render method but nothing works.maybe an issue with ffmpeg? i don't know.
- kodi 19 is really slow on estuary skin, I solve this a bit by uncheck some fancy things on the skin, but when you play a video and you put it on pause or stop, it cleary stay in background, and with only 512mb or ram, the menu became even more sloppy. I don't know if there is a way to closea video instead of keep it on background.
- quake doen't work with gamepad, only keyboard.
- tested the OPiPC version and it's even worst with video splashscreen sloppy. (this doen't happen on opi1 version)

PERSONAL OPINION
I know that 512 are really to low for a system now days, I don't remember performance on 4.1 version, so I really don't know if it's a good idea to go back to 4.1 just to watch video. and play some very old games. I know that @alexkidd advice to not use 4.1 for the old kernel, but the system has so many issue that you spend more time on solve than on using it...maybe it's time to cut the support for the opi1? or maybe there are some trick that I don't know. for now, the only performance boost I've noticed, is by enabling swap.

  Raspberry PI situation.
Posted by: Lamerjack - 02-11-2020, 12:48 PM - Forum: RetrOrangePi v4.3 - go to www.retrorangepi.org/forum - Replies (1)

Meditating about the mame compiles issues on pc2 and also on some ports i pickup a Raspberry pi3 from office for do some tests...
The Raspberry pi is so depressing, no music, no nice boot screen and also here a lot of stuff not compiling...
So i made another small donation to the developers. I just a beer, but maybe is better than just write "Thanks" or "Why this doens't work".

Porting balenaSound (OPI Zero/Lite 2/One to Lite 2 or others).
Posted by: viniciuscu - 01-30-2020, 06:00 PM - Forum: OrangePI DIY - No Replies

Hi, first of all I would like to apologize if I ask any silly questions, I am new and I am learning.

I saw a very interesting project called BalenaSound. I saw it has versions for OPI Zero/Lite 2/One. I wanted to know if it is possible to make a port of these versions to OPI Lite 2 or other versions. If so, could someone tell me how to do that?
