Big Grin Picked Up my Orange pi plus 2 after a while
Posted by: Brottus - 07-02-2018, 07:45 PM - Forum: SUPPORT - Replies (1)

Hejo Retrorangepi Team and the rest of the forum,

i used my good old orange pi from time to time to try out some arm stuff, but always liked retrorange pi. It was just a bumper that v3.x was not able to play my n64 games ( at least not all ). Last weekend i saw a release update and was hyped for it. So i installed it and now the n64 games are playable partially. Now my keyboard seems to keep a initial configuration or something like that, because control is now the A button and shift is B Button (or vice versa sry that i forgot it). Same strange behavior goes with my gamepad. It was working beforehand on 3.x and i saw some others here also had some issues. The strange part it, that all the buttons work in emulationstation and armbian desktop. I believe it is specific to the configurations of all the emulators, so can someone please point me to the right configuration. Or shall i just wait for 4.2 ?

Thanks in advance for the help and hopefully you have fun developing retrorange pi  Big Grin and keep up the good work.
Brottus

Bug [Almost SOLVED - Help needed] Overscan in RCA Out
Posted by: Brun0 - 07-01-2018, 01:55 AM - Forum: Support area - Replies (3)

I did some research to correct the overscan problem. It worked, but I need more help.

I noticed that this problem is related to the video driver of that allwinner chip.
Most of the information I got in forum.armbian.com and in this forum.
This method applies to OrangePi Zero with expansion board (or not) using the RCA video output.
(If you are using HDMI output, there are easier methods to deal with overscan)

1 - Adjust the resolution in pixels
I made the bin2fex / fex2bin method to edit the /boot/script.bin file

Use this command to transform the script.bin into script.fex
$ bin2fex /boot/script.bin ~/script.fex

Then this one to edit the file script.fex
$ nano ~/script.fex

Look for the item [disp_init]
Modify the lines:
fb0_width = 0
fb0_height = 0

To be like this:
fb0_width = 680
fb0_height = 536

Save the fex file (Control + O)
Exit nano (Control + X)

Use this command to convert the script.fex file that you just saved to script.bin
$ fex2bin ~/script.fex ~/script.bin

Now to copy this file to the source folder use
$ sudo cp ~/script.bin /boot

And finally the reboot for the changes to take effect
$ sudo reboot

(If not perfect, test other values. On my TV it fit better with 655x544)
(You will notice the result after rebooting.)

2 - Adjust the position of the image on the screen

First, use this command to download the tvout app
$ wget https://projects.nwrk.biz/attachments/download/4/tvout

Now turn it into an executable
$ chmod 755 ./tvout

This command will move the image in 55 pixles to the right
$ tvout -m -x 55

And also this command to move the image in 10 pixles down
$ tvout -m -y 10

(Find the better adjustments for your screen. Negative values in X will move the image to the left, while negative values in Y will move the image up.)

*** NOW I NEED MORE HELP ***
This solves the overscan problem. But the adjustments made by tvout are not definitive.
Is there any method of putting these tvout commands in some script to run during boot?

  Under Desktop, about the armbian-config its 3pty software "Softether" vpn client
Posted by: Himyorange - 06-28-2018, 02:19 AM - Forum: GENERAL TALK - Replies (1)

Hi,
I want to know the software how to work via "command line interface". I had used "armbian-config" to enable the "Softether Client". It requires to put a vpn config file to this path "/etc/armbian.vpn". I think it is a *.opvn file, configuration file.

I had a idea to regularly past the *.ovpn file to replace "/etc/armiban.vpn" via cron job. The *.opvn files are from here. http://www.vpngate.net

How to know the command line? I am not able to find it on "/bin/".

  SDL 2.0.4 -> SDL 2.0.5
Posted by: nagual20 - 06-22-2018, 08:28 PM - Forum: SUPPORT - Replies (9)

Hi folks,

I was wondering how I can update my SDL2 library version to the latest one.

apt search SDL2 shows only 2.0.2 as available. I'd like 2.0.5.

I think I could build it from source, but - would the hardware acceleration of my H3 chip work with it automagically?

Thank you.

Question CPU Temperature Monitor?
Posted by: AeitZean - 06-19-2018, 12:55 PM - Forum: SUPPORT - Replies (1)

Hi, I've built a project using an OrangePi Zero H2 512MB, with RetrOrangePi v4 installed. the case gets rather warm while in use (even with some vent holes), but I want to check to make sure its not overheating. Is there a desktop program or command line tool I can use to read the CPU temperature? I cant find one in the system or accessories menu's as far as I can tell, maybe I missed it? or do i need to install something?

Thanks
