  How do remove the Openelec?
Posted by: robson - 01-21-2018, 12:06 PM - Forum: SUPPORT - Replies (4)

How do remove the Openelec from the menu and system?
I will not use it to watch videos. I would use SD card space to put more games.
Kodi I already removed.

Thanks

  ALSA underrun and EM crash
Posted by: YiorgosH - 01-20-2018, 09:37 PM - Forum: SUPPORT - Replies (5)

Hello,
I got some arcade roms that sometimes fail to start. When they do, the error I get is "ALSA lib pcm.c:7843: (snd_pcm_recover) underrun occurred". And sometimes after the failure, emulationstation fails to restart and I get the following screen (and have to connect a keyboard in order to restart it):

Any clues?

  retropi_packages.sh file not found
Posted by: VonLigenstein - 01-20-2018, 04:50 PM - Forum: SUPPORT - Replies (3)

so I did an update through either retorpi or orangepi, to make sure everything was up to date.  now when or if I try to access any of the setting in retropi I get an error message;
home/pi/retropi_packages.sh file not found.
Also when I use the shutdown feature either through retro or Armbian it spits out a lot of 'stuff' (it scrolls to fast to read) and the very last few lines say something like:
Error can not kill CPU 1
Error Can not kill CPU 2
Error can not kill CPU 3
Error Can not kill CPU 4

then it just reboots.

I will just reinstall the image, I read (on Facebook) some dude was having simillar issue with his laptop, when he went to do and update, things/features on his system started to fail,
so should I stay away from updates ( I usually don't get my Damn Dirty Windows Updates, still running win7)

TVout LCD too bright on opi zero - fix
Posted by: paddlestroke - 01-20-2018, 04:45 PM - Forum: HARDWARE DISCUSSION - No Replies

Hey guys,

Problem : when using opi zero TV-out on a small 3.5" LCD screen I had a LCD that was too bright, washed out.
Someone gave me the solution : a 50ohm resistor should be added between TV-out and ground. This resistor is included in the other opi boards but not in opi zero.

You can check orangepi PC schematic for example for full schematic (there is also 2* 150pF capacitors and 1* 1.8uH inductor). Only the 50ohm resistor is needed for the bright problem, but rest can help with interferences. I quote below :

Quote:The resistor alone will get the brightness under control.
The other parts form an RF filter which will also reduce the amount of unwanted EM radiation you produce - the signal generator they're using is very simple and will generate a lot of frequencies you don't want.
If you don't put the filter in place, I wouldn't put it close to your WiFi router or any TV tuner using a terrestrial tuner, and I'd expect Wifi performance for your Orange Pi to drop a fair bit.
On a Opi zero, Wifi is always abysmal, so it would be hard to notice.

Dual Arcade Sticks (NationZ Chipset) RoPI on "Pandoras Box 6"
Posted by: AboveUnrefined - 01-20-2018, 07:33 AM - Forum: SUPPORT - Replies (19)

Hello!

Thanks for taking the time to read my situation, I'm hoping somebody can help me out here because it'd be great if I can get my situation working with this EXCELLENT gaming solution; I'd be even able to throw a tip out for a good solution!

To see everything I'm talking about, please check out the gallery I've created here: https://imgur.com/gallery/za9zA

A month ago I went on ebay and got a "Pandora's Box 6" which is a whole other big thing to read about regarding MAME emulation -- bottom line is that this thing is a clone from an original concept using JAMMA hardware, yadda yadda.... I just got it because I didn't feel like completely building an arcade station totally from scratch.
Bottom line is, this clone is using some sort of stripped down hardware that's got an H3 in it and the RoPI PC Plus image DOES work on this (so far, I'm sure I'm going to need to do more tweaking beyond what I'm asking). The joysticks seem to be hooked up to some "NationZ" 19fd:3232 controller.

I'm already using the joysticks with Steam games on windows, they do work very well for that. The H3 hardware in it has 512 GB memory and it has an 8 GB emmc. There is 1 conventional USB port, along with another usb pinout going to the "NationZ" controller. That "NationZ" controller has another connection that can go to another computer. I was able to deploy the RoPI PC Plus image onto the emmc via FEL mode thanks to https://github.com/zador-blood-stained/fel-mass-storage and I was able to get this to boot following instructions on the forum thanks to cologne86's suggestion here: http://orangepi.club/showthread.php?tid=...00#pid4000

So, ultimately, my big problem seems pretty common where the joysticks are being detected as one controller and the up and left directions do not work - I can not fully map them. I did find some clues about how to possibly address this by finding details about the "Xin Mo Controller" but I'm sort of hitting a brick wall on it. Can somebody help me out with getting the joysticks to work on this?

Thanks for all your help!

  New 3D Printable Case
Posted by: Onslaught - 01-18-2018, 07:48 PM - Forum: HARDWARE DISCUSSION - No Replies

I designed a new case for the Orange Pi Lite that lets you use a silent 5015 blower type fan along with the system.

Here is the Thingiverse link.

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2761641

With this fan it keeps the cpu very cool during full load.  My testing shows it keeps it under 40 degrees celcius.

  Cross Upgrade.
Posted by: Lamerjack - 01-18-2018, 10:22 AM - Forum: HARDWARE DISCUSSION - Replies (1)

Hi all,
i have a strange request.
Is possible to update/setup an image (in my case orange pi one) on a different system (Orange pi pc).
I have to update the system of my Girlfriend but is not easy to transport (is a small box full of glass stones) and the update will be long there is also a service that send info to send info to a arduino that fade some leds to show the status.
I tested the orange pi one image and boot withotu problems.
Windows when find different hardware change configurations files etc, but linux should not.
So if i have different hardware maybe i have not working devices but i think that image will not modified.
Is it correct?
After the upgrade the image should work without problems on orange pi one like it was installed on it?
Regards.
Enrico.

Obrigado.
