Scraping from EmulationStation can be a very tedious process. A great alternative is the SSelph Scraper.  Here are basic instructions for scraping, especially video as it's a new feature supported by RetrOrangePi.

1. quit Emulationstation as required by the scraper. (press F4)
2. run the following command: "sudo ./RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh"

3. install scraper  - Manage packages - opt - scraper (last option)
4. go back to main menu - Configurations - scraper

5. change setting to match exactly the image above
6. choose option 1 or 2 (to scrape all or chosen systems)
7. reboot board from menu
8. when EmulationStation is run again, change UI settings, making sure your theme supports videos. Please refer to https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/themes

9. Now you should have your videos showing automatically

  PS4 controller support
Posted by: alexkidd - 11-01-2017, 09:37 PM - Forum: HOWTOS - Replies (3)

STEPS (from command line)

sudo apt-get install python-dev
wget https://bootstrap.pypa.io/get-pip.py
sudo python get-pip.py
sudo pip install ds4drv

From the retropie wiki:
############# allow a normal user to create a new joystick #############
wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/chripp...4drv.rules
sudo mv 50-ds4drv.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/
sudo udevadm control --reload-rules
sudo udevadm trigger

### put the PS4 controller into pairing mode. Hold down the SHARE button & the PS button ####
### run ds4drv ###
## it should connect after a few seconds###
# after a successful connection, add /usr/local/bin/ds4drv & to /etc/rc.local
# it will look something like this:

# By default this script does nothing.
/usr/local/bin/ds4drv &
exit 0

Q: What did exactly change from v3.0.1 to v4 version?

A: Almost all content updated: EmulationStation now supports video previews, collections/favorites filters, carousel mode (vertical scrolling), RetroPie features have better functionality, full support to ES themes, splashscreens and usb roms. Retroarch was also updated, you can now enable retroachievements or use it as a frontend, all emulator libretro cores  updated, added emulators from Odroid OGST (Mupen64Plus and PPSSPP), Kodi 17.4 with IPTV addon included, our new RetrOrangePi menu with multiboot options, AV switcher, overscan fix, emmc installer, ROPi Radio, curvature shader, console overlays and many more.

Q: How is it possible in ropi 4 deactivating emulators?
A: Full image should include a kiosk mode. For now, you can create a temporary subfolder in the roms folder and move whatever platforms you want to "quarantine". They will magically disappear from EmulationStation.

Q: Every time that I create the image in the SD card, it says it is not possible to mount it or it is corrupted. I cannot copy my roms.
A: Filesystem is EXT4(linux-only) , so you won’t be able to open/access it from inside Windows, unless you install a 3rd party application like Paragon or Ext2SD. Connect a flash drive to your board and use Desktop option in the main launcher to be able to copy roms with ease.

Q: My board does not boot or all I got is a black screen:
A: Things to try: reformat SD card with Panasonic SD formatter => reflash image with DD(linux) or Win32diskimager (windows) => change power supply (most likely!!!!!) .
First 4.1 images had a bug with the boot partition. Just remove boot.bmp and it will work.

Q: In Kodi (not OpenELEC), I can’t see movie progress/subtitles or quit the video.
A: Kodi application uses MPV as external player for hardware acceleration. Because of that, OSD is not available and only keyboard shortcuts work. For example, to quit video, press Q, to fast forward, press right or up. Refer to MPV manual : https://mpv.io/manual/stable/ for more information.

Q:  Some games just don't run. They return to main screen.
If your emulator does not run any of your ROMS, check if the system requires a BIOS and that it is in the /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS folder.  If it's a MAME/NeoGeo rom, take a look at this thread.

You can also check the output of the error, by running from terminal :

cat /dev/shm/runcommand.log
Q: I already copied my roms/games, but they don’t appear in the list
A: EmulationStation will search for specific extensions for each platform. Check file /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg.

Q: What do I do to change resolution or my screen connection?
A: Run from command line : ‘sudo h3disp’ to check available modes and run it again with correct parameters
Q: How to change boot splashscreen?
A: Run RetroPie-Setup - Configurations - splashscreens

  QJoypad configuration
Posted by: alexkidd - 11-01-2017, 02:22 PM - Forum: HOWTOS - Replies (1)

Kodi, most ports and some standalone emulators like Amiga UAE4ARM will require a keyboard/mouse to play.

Our alternative, since ROPi v3 release is the QJOYPAD application.
ROPi already includes default mapping for compatible content . They might not match exactly the same  buttons you have on your controller. So, in order to update it, open the Desktop, run Applications - Games - QJoypad

you will find something like this:

Select one of the available layouts and, with the help of a keyboard and mouse, remap as you wish and update it.

  Retro Achievements
Posted by: alexkidd - 11-01-2017, 02:21 PM - Forum: HOWTOS - No Replies

One of Retroarch's nicest features is the support to Retroachievements, something like the Trophies feature on the Playstation 3 and 4.

From their page: "RetroAchievements.org is a community who collaborate and compete to earn custom-made achievements in classic games through emulation. Achievements are made by and for the community. We provide various custom-built emulators for you to use which will detect when you have completed various challenges. Once logged in, the emulators will post the achievements you've completed back to the site, so you can check and compare your progress to your friends."

This is how it looks :Big Grin

So, if you want to have it on your RetrOrangePi image:

1. Head to http://retroachievements.org/createaccount.php and register yourself.

2. Launch a compatible game/system, press Select + X (to open Retroarch Menu) then select achievements from the settings tab:

3. Enter your credentials as you've just signed up:

4. Save Current Configuration, from Retroarch main configuration menu:

5. If you dont want any of this anymore, go back to the achievements TAB, disable it then repeat number 4. Voilá!

In this retropie wiki page, you can see the compatible systems as well as some more detailed instructions: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Set...hievements

RetrOrange Pi 4.0 (update from 3.0.1)
Posted by: alexkidd - 11-01-2017, 02:20 PM - Forum: README FIRST! - Replies (9)

Hello guys,
As expected by the vast majority of users, ROPi 3.0.1 to 4.0 update will work by script, without the need of reflashing your sdcard all over again. We hope this version to be more user-friendly and easily upgradable.
Full images will take a little more time to be available, as Harryzimm has been VERY busy with real life lately. We hope to read your feedback on our forums soon, so we can fix any bug before flashing the final images.
The automated script will backup your configs, keeping your roms and metadata intact, so you should not be worried (too much). If your data is very unique, it’s wiser to backup Big Grin
Update instructions :

  1. Quit to terminal (from EmulationStation start menu or simply by pressing F4).
  2. Download the updater: wget http://www.retrorangepi.org/ropi4.sh
  3. Give it execute permission: sudo chmod +x ropi4.sh
  4. Run it: sudo -u pi ./ropi4.sh
  1. Make sure you have 1GB of free space, before running the update. Script will remove update files after completion , so don’t worry.
  2. It’s possible to update from SSH. Please log with user pi , not root (ever)
If all goes well, you should get a confirmation at the end asking you to reboot your board.

OPi Plus WiFi & X360 JoyPad
Posted by: niarbagem - 10-31-2017, 10:12 AM - Forum: Hardware compatibility - No Replies

Good day!

WiFi (RTL8189ETV) on my Orange Pi Plus don't work. When i've tried add Wifi connection through gui connection manager adapter havn't seen.
Haven't seen it on dmesg yet. Does it supported "from box" or manual installation only?

I have Logitech cordless RumlbePad 2 and XBOX 360 pad with chinese receiver, both works well and configured without problem, but when i'd tried to play with 2 players SNES DKC 1 i've seen title "XBOX pad configured to port #3" and don't work in game. But it works in DKC2.

How i can configure it to port #2?
