Playing Roms from a USB Flash Drive - pstamper - 02-04-2018

I been trying to use a usb 64gb flash drive to run my roms from. I have a OrangePi PC + and RetrOrangePi 4.1installed to the EMMC. I tried different ways but Emulation Station just acts like it doesn't exist. I tried formatting to Fat32 using the retropie-mount directory, then formatted it to NTFS and tried the Expand To External Drive tool kit but when I boot the Pi to desktop I can access the drive through file manager and I reformatted it using Gpart...

Can anybody please help me out with this?

Thanks.....

For NTFS you would have to mount the HDD manually (in /etc/fstab or /etc/rc.local) and change rom paths or use symbolic links
EmulationStation will only read from paths defined in /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
You have to make sure your flash drive is being mounted on boot otherwise ES wont see it.

Yeah, I can't figure it out. I am very new at using linux so messing around with the cfg files is a little intimidating. I found a video on youtube about formatting your flash drive fat32. Then creating a directory called retropie-mount/roms and then enabling the usb services but it didn't work. I am not sure what I am missing? Is there a size little that the orange pi pc+ can handle? Should I try a smaller drive?

There is a file call /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg. There are many emulators configuration inside this file. You should point your emulators' rom path to the external path, such as /media/usbX. The usbX may be usb0, usb1, usb2, usb3 or etc..

I think you just modify what emulators you want is ok.
