RetrOrangePi 4.1 release/changelog
Hello guys,

Our new website (, a kind gift from Stephen Miller, is already up and running. As you can see from the changelog, we decided to move our release to ROPi v4.1. It now features brand new Armbian 5.34, EmulationStation 2.7.3, RetroPie 4.3.7 and Retroarch 1.6.9, as well as our own features like the Multi boot, custom ROPi menu with GPIO drivers, background music, retro radios, eMMC install (being fixed), wifi configuration and an option to keep your ROPi always updated.

There is a lot of info being updated as we speak. Our new github is already alive and kicking for some time already: Feel free to reach us there and help developing ROPi.

  • Latest Armbian v5.34 (Debian8 Jessie - legacy kernel 3.4.113)
  • EmulationStation v2.7.3: features kiosk/kid mode, favorites, game collections and video preview support
  • New exclusive ROPi theme (based on Attract-Mode Cosmos theme)
  • RetroPie-Setup v4.3.7 (unofficial fork updated weekly)
  • Better services compatibility: USB roms, SSelph scraper, all themes available, video splashscreens, virtual gamepad etc
  • Latest Retroarch 1.6.9 - Retroachievements tested
  • All Libretro cores updated, experimental cores available: DOSBox, MAME2014, VICE, X68000, Amiga PUAE
  • Customized Retroarch configuration (optimal settings, appearance tweaks, original aspect ratio)
  • Kodi Krypton 17.4 (hardware acceleration provided by MPV + VDPAU): IPTVsimple included, quit button fixed
  • OpenELEC (Kodi Jarvis 16.1) with CEC support by Jernej Skrabec - integrated with Armbian
  • New RetrOrangePi repository for easy updates and fixes
  • New ROPi splashscreens and logo by Stephen Miller
  • Sleep mode - puts CPU in powersave mode, blanks screen and turns off background music.

is there any information on when the next release/update to 4.1 will be available?

I'm happy to assist in any way i can (provided that it is within my technical limits and time constraints)
v4.2 alpha is already rolling to our donators/supporters , slim version is being tested OK, release should happen in mid-July

Download the latest slim image, installed it. So far so good. I don't use Kodi so this one is perfect for me. Keep up the good work guys.
