Dosen't boot after EMMC Install
#11
It wont break, but it wont work either, unless you know some heavy scripting. If you're up to the task, check these two files:

/usr/sbin/nand-sata-install
/home/pi/RetrOrangePi/emmc.install.SH

Thank you for the input. This is really some heavy scripting, i cant help you with that thing ... :/
But i managed to install retrorangepi to the emmc at least( similar to what you described here http://orangepi.club/showthread.php?tid=2033 , with a little modification). Here are the steps:

At first you need to copy the image to an usb-drive (copy! do not flash with dd) and boot via sd-card.
The following steps need a command line so you either need to ssh to the orange pi, or exit to the command line and attach a keyboard.
Fill the emmc with zeros:
Code:
sudo dd if=/dev/zero | pv -s 8G | sudo dd of=/dev/mmcblk1

then stick the usb-driv into the orange pi and mount it:
Code:
mkdir /mnt/usb
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb

after that you can flash the image to the emmc:
Code:
sudo dd if=/mnt/usb/RetrOrangePi-4.1.Orangepizeroplus2.img | pv -s 5G | sudo dd of=/dev/mmcblk1 bs=4M

before reboot and installation you need to modify the boot-*.cmd files, at least boot-begin.cmd and boot-retro.cmd.
For that you need to mount the boot partition of the emmc first:
Code:
sudo mkdir /mnt/emmc
sudo mount /dev/mmcblk1p1 /mnt/emmc
cd /mnt/emmc
and then modify them like this:

Code:
sudo sed -i -e "s/mmc 0/mmc 1/g" boot-begin.cmd
sudo sed -i -e "s/mmc 0/mmc 1/g" boot-retro.cmd

rebuild the boot.scr before start via:
Code:
sudo mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d boot-begin.cmd boot.scr

after that:
Code:
sudo shutdown -h now

after shutdown remove the sd card and hard-reset (un- then replug power).

For me that worked, i hope it will work for you as well and is somewhat helpfull.

Cool, if it works for you, it might work for others, so we'll try to make a script out of it. Thanks!
