Strange video output on fresh installation
#1
Hey

I'm having some trouble getting started with retrorangepi on my Orange pi plus (1). I've followed these instructions ( http://orangepi.club/showthread.php?tid=2269 ) however I am on a windows machine, so used win32diskimager for putting the .img on my 16gb class 10 HC SD card. The monitor I'm using is an LG TV capable of 1920x1080 & 1280x720 video and my power supply is capable of 3a output.

when I start the pi the network lights start to flash, a green light appears on the board, however on screen I see the below image.

This image was taken using a capture card also capable of 1920x1080 & 1280x720 video and mirrors what I see on my TV.

I've gone through quite a few posts on this forum but cannot find anything related to this issue.
I must be doing something wrong here, anyone have any ideas?

1080x720 or 1280x720? I think the first one is not compliant. Are you connecting the HDMI cable directly?

My TV is capable of both 1920x1080 and 1280x720, I should have made that more clear. The HDMI cable is connected directly. Only during taking the screenshot did I use the capture pass through card.

can you recheck your board model? Orange pi plus (1)? Orange Pi One Plus?

We had a few uboot issues in the current release. It will probably be fixed in the upcoming update. Anyway, issue is a bit different. It's behaving like it was set to analog output, so the hdmi just freezes at that part.

Below is a picture of what the board looks like. Pretty sure it's the Orange Pi Plus. I only wrote (1) at the end to distinguish it from the plus 2.

The .img I am writing to my sd card is RetrOrangePi-4.1.Orangepiplus.img

EDIT: Also to note. On some boots the image produced doesn't have that colour effect in the white area, and is just a white background with that black strip along the top. (referring to first image posted)
