PI Case Project?
#1
Lightbulb
The biggest problem for all PI is a casing.
On sale there is many casing, but they are made of acryle and only the specific PI model enters them.
I suggest to think of development of the universal PI case, with integral unit of a supply, the built-in modular expansion board including CMOS, USB-HUB and remaining necessary connectors and fixings for modules.
Also in advance to provide holes and windows for analog regulators and LCD panels.
To make the case with good design, like Hi-Fi of the casing.
To make the case in 2 options - metal and plastic.

If the project is interesting, it can be realized through Kickstarter.
It would be desirable to learn a judgement of remaining.
It Crowd...  Cool

If you wanted to fail, and you succeed, what did you do?

A universal case is impossible. Mounting holes are in different locations, ports are different in types, number and locations. Switches are in different locations, some OPi boards have the expansion header on the opposite side.

There's one Orange Pi Plus 2E case on Thingiverse, I designed it. That model's been out seven months and the only case available is the crappy one on Ali Express, and it didn't turn up at all when I searched with google and yahoo.

I printed mine (for the OPI PC) from one I found on thingiverse, I really like it even tho its nothing special. But I wish I knew how to design so I could make one that looks like an NES (yeah... I know Tongue )

As Galane says, a universal case would be almost imposible to make because of all the differences. but it does sound very cool.

I'm searching for the same NES case  Big Grin I would like to buy one that is not the same transparent acrylic... someone with equipment of 3d printing could use this opportunity to do good money and help everyone in the Opi community  Big Grin
