HOWTO - Using DPad as analog control (N64 emulation)
#1
Go to Desktop, open a terminal window and run command below, changing filename accordingly (you can use File Manager as well) :

Code:
pluma /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/YOURGAMEPAD.cfg

Include the following lines at the end, replacing the values by the ones you have for input DOWN, UP, RIGHT, LEFT (in this order), if necessary:

input_l_x_plus_axis = "+1"
input_l_x_minus_axis = "-1"
input_l_y_plus_axis = "+0"
input_l_y_minus_axis = "-0"

It's working, you don't have to change values even if you have other ones for DOWN, UP, RIGHT AND LEFT. Thanks a lot!

I'm using Retrolink Generic USB N64 joystick from eBay, but I have no success adding suggested lines. Some days ago I was able to play SuperMario64 without problems, but today the digital joystick doesn't work.

I also have connected a wireless usb Microsoft keyboard all-in-one. When I run Super Mario, joystick doesn't work, but keyboard do :C

I tried to disconect keyboard, restart ROPi, reconfigure joystick, but still can't walk (all other buttons works fine in game and in ES (Direction, A, B, Start)).

Exists some kind of way to configure all buttons using command line program "jstest" to get buttons codes and put manually in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/my_joystic.cfg Huh

The suggested lines will change according to buttons assignment you can read from 'Configure Input' option, which has the same effect as running jstest

Sometimes when you map a new controller, it overwrites default input for an emulator, so you need to open settings menu again and change input device

Also, disable Joypad Autoconfig in Input settings, so your changes will have effect
